About SEMVMA

Born and raised in Flint, Michigan, Dr. Easton earned her Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Michigan State University in 2002 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. Following graduation, she completed an internship at Kendall Road Equine Hospital, where she further developed her interest in veterinary ophthalmology.
Inspired by her experiences during veterinary school and internship training, Dr. Easton joined Veterinary Vision of Rochester in 2008. In 2013, she became the owner of the practice and has since overseen its growth, including the addition of a second location in Novi.
Dr. Easton is actively involved in organized veterinary medicine and has served as a council member since 2022. She has contributed to numerous committees, including the Academy, Ethics and Grievance, and Veterinary Technician Continuing Education committees, supporting professional development and advancement within the veterinary community.

Dr. Jordan Roux is a part-owner of Veterinary Emergency Service in Plymouth, MI. Dr. Roux earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Saginaw Valley State University before pursuing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed her clinical rotations at Michigan State University and, after graduating in 2019, she returned home to begin her career at Veterinary Emergency Service, where she is proud to serve the community that helped shape her professional journey. Dr. Roux is dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality emergency care to her patients and their families. Outside of the hospital and SEMVMA duties, she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her husband and son.

After 40 years in private practice, Pierre remains active in several volunteer projects. He has thoroughly enjoyed working with the talented and dedicated members of the SEMVMA council.

In addition to his work with SEMVMA, Pierre volunteers at Leader Dogs for the Blind and the Michigan Animal Rescue League. He also collaborates with MSUCVM and the University of Minnesota’s CVM in Southern Mexico to coordinate mobile veterinary surgery campaigns. These campaigns, located in villages along the Pacific Coast, focus on controlling feral dog populations to decrease the predation of sea turtles, hatchlings, and eggs.

After graduating from a foreign veterinary school, Grace has practiced in Metro Detroit
for many years. She was encouraged to join SEMVMA Council by her employer, Ron
Mehler, with the promise of FREE FOOD!! Grace is still coming for the free food, but
she has met so many great veterinarians who have become great friends , experienced
multiple CE lectures, races, golf outings, family events and holiday parties and has
helped our council keep veterinary medicine in Southeastern Michigan to be the best in
the state.

Dr. Henney is a longtime member of the Southeastern Michigan Veterinary Medical Association
(SEMVMA) Council, where she has proudly served as president and currently serves as
treasurer and chair of the Continuing Education Committee. She especially enjoys collaborating
with fellow council members, welcoming new veterinarians to the association, and helping
provide outstanding continuing education opportunities for the veterinary community.

A native Detroiter, Dr. Henney grew up in Oak Park, Michigan, and earned both her
undergraduate degree and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University. After
two years in private practice, she completed a three-year surgical residency at Tufts University
and Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston. She then remained at Tufts as a staff surgeon
for an additional year before returning to Michigan.

In 1989, Dr. Henney founded Oakland Veterinary Referral Services, where she continues to
practice as a veterinary surgeon. Throughout her career, she has been passionate about
advancing the profession through organized veterinary medicine. She served for six years on
the Board of Directors of the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA) and has also
been deeply involved with the Veterinary Orthopedic Society, serving as treasurer, president,
and continuing as an active member.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Henney enjoys an active lifestyle that includes tennis, golf,
skiing, hiking, and water sports. She shares her home with her husband, their two black
Labrador Retrievers—Alta, a rescue, and Breck, a career-change Leader Dog—and two
cherished Devon Rex cats, Hank and Freida. Together, they enjoy spending time with their three
adult children.

Kaitlin (Katie) Lonc, DVM, DACVIM is immediate past president of the Southeastern Michigan Veterinary Medical Association. As SEMVMA president, she worked to establish connections with recent MSU grads to increase enrollment and mentorship in SEMVMA. As immediate past president, she enjoys heckling Dr. Easton at council meetings and is here for the free drinks at SEMVMA events (just kidding!). Katie is originally from Macomb Twp, MI and is an internal medicine specialist at Oakland Veterinary Referral Services. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Lonc enjoys cooking, gardening, reading, and spending time with her husband, two daughters and “career changed” Leader Dog Shadow.

Raised in Romeo, Michigan, Dr. Ashley Brazen received her Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Michigan State University in 2016, and her D.V.M. from Michigan State College of Vet Med in 2020. She has been a SEMVMA member since 2021 and this is her first term on council. She looks forward to supporting local practitioners through SEMVMA.
She joined Lakeville Animal Clinic in 2023 and enjoys general medicine, surgery and continued learning. When not working, she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her soon to be husband Charles and their two pets Carter and Millie.

Dr. Becky Dietlin grew up in Armada, MI. She attended Michigan State University for
both undergraduate and veterinary school. She earned her Bachelor’s of Science in
Animal Science in 2007, then earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2009.
Dr. Dietlin spent the first two years of her career practicing large animal ambulatory
medicine throughout the thumb of Michigan before moving onto small animal
medicine exclusively. Since then, Dr. Dietlin has been practicing in clinics in the
northern Metro Detroit area. In 2022, Dr. Dietlin opened Faithful Friend Veterinary
Care in Washington Twp. The practice is limited to care for dogs and cats.
When she is not at work, she enjoys spending time reading, and spending time with
her husband, as well as their dog and cat.

Dr. Smith received a BS from the University of Rhode Island in 1979 with Highest Distinction in the Honors Program in Animal Science. He received his DVM from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University in 1983 and worked in general practice in Rhode Island and Massachusetts following that.
Dr. Smith relocated to Michigan in 1986 to assume the position of Staff Veterinarian at Leader Dogs for the Blind and to develop the canine health care system. Currently Dr. Smith is the Director of Canine Health and Wellness at Leader Dogs for the Blind, supervising the Leader Dog Veterinary and Reproduction. He was recently recognized by the International Guide Dog Federation for 40 years of continuous Guide Dog service and is recognized as the most tenured Guide Dog veterinarian in the US.
Dr. Smith is a member of the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association, Southeast Michigan Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association and the Society for Theriogenology (Reproduction). He has been recognized as a member of SEMVMA Academy for educational excellence, and was awarded SEMVMA Outstanding Contribution to the Community. He is past president and currently is a member of the SEMVMA Council and a member of the Continuing Education Committee to bring continuing education to SE Michigan veterinarians.
Special interests include reproduction, surgery and dental care. He enjoys continuing education and application of advances within veterinary medicine. He has been a member of the Rochester Lions Club since 1986. He enjoys golf, especially fund raisers for Leader Dogs.

Emilie got her BS in animal science from Michigan State in 2009 and her AAS in veterinary technology from Purdue in 2019. She has over 20 years of experience in the industry ranging veterinary research, diagnostics, general practice, and emergency, and is excited to continue serving Michigan veterinarians as the SEMVMA administrative secretary. She does not miss the drool.
A former eventer and racing groom, Emilie now enjoys learning classical French dressage with her mustang Cici. Emilie is also an avid reader of around 250 books a year and collects horse books. Emilie lives in Washington Township with her husband, DSH, and talking-button-using Rhodesian ridgeback.

Dr. Carmona received both his undergraduate and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from
Michigan State University. He has worked at North Hills Veterinary Hospital, a small animal
clinic in Rochester Hills, since graduation. During his time at North Hills, he spent a few years
teaching in the veterinary technician program at Macomb Community College. Dr. Carmona
has been involved in organized veterinary medicine for several years, serving as President of
the SEMVMA in 2004 and the MVMA in 2011. Dr. Carmona is currently on the Board of
Trustees for Leader Dogs for the Blind and involved with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Dr. Windsor earned a BS in biomedical science, with honors, from Texas A&M University in 1992. He then obtained a degree from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. In 1998, he completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Washington State University, where he specialized in soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. He then returned to Michigan, where he served as a relief veterinarian, specializing in emergency and general medicine, at various Metro Detroit area veterinary hospitals. In 2000, he joined Beverly Hills Veterinary Associates, Inc., and in 2013 Dr. Windsor purchased the hospital and became Practice Manager.
Dr. Windsor’s special interests include ophthalmology, surgery, dermatology, and internal medicine, including ultrasound and endoscopy. He attends more than 50 hours of continuing education per year. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Michigan Veterinary Medical Association, Southeastern Michigan Veterinary Medical Association where he is past president, Veterinary Orthopedic Society, and American Animal Hospital Association. He passes his free time with running, swimming, golf, photography, and cooking. He lives with his wife, Sondra; his daughter, Mallory; son, Matthew; and two dogs—a Heinz 57 named Josephine and a knuckle-headed golden retriever named Doug.

Dr. Michelle Meyer is a 2007 graduate of Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine and has practiced at the same privately owned small animal hospital ever since—apparently proving that both loyalty and an inability to say “no” are lifelong traits.
When she’s not caring for patients, she somehow finds time to serve on three veterinary association boards. She is the Past President and current Treasurer of the Feline Veterinary Medical Association, Past President and current Council Member of the Southeastern Michigan Veterinary Medical Association, and a member of the Board of Directors for the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association. She also serves on three MVMA committees and four FelineVMA committees, mostly because she still hasn’t mastered the art of declining additional responsibilities.
Dr. Meyer has lectured at major veterinary conferences, including the AVMA Convention, VMX, Western Veterinary Conference, FelineVMA, and MVMA, with a particular interest in osteoarthritis management, feline medicine, and veterinary leadership.
At home, she stays just as busy raising three boys (ages 9, 12, and 16) with her husband, Steve, while continuing to perfect the art of functioning on minimal sleep.

Dr. Booth earned his bachelor’s degree in zoological anthropology from the University of Michigan in 2005 and his D.V.M. from Michigan State University in 2009, practicing throughout metropolitan Detroit since that time. He joined Oakland Animal Hospital in 2017 and became co-owner in 2018 with former SEMVMA president Dr. Tim Duncan. Dr. Booth began serving his two-year SEMVMA council term in 2025 and is honored to support his profession locally. In addition to general practice, Dr. Booth performs soft tissue surgery and dental procedures and has received additional training in abdominal ultrasound. He currently lives in Rochester Hills with his wife Dr. Kathryn Hicks Booth, three young sons and a bouncing Boxer dog named Ray Cooper. In his free time, he enjoys running, college football, and exploring Rochester’s outdoor spaces and parks.

Sara has a BS in Zoology from Michigan State University and graduated from the Veterinary Technology program at Macomb Community College with an Associate of Applied Science and LVT certification. Sara earned an Associates in Business Management from MCC as well. She also has a certification in Advanced Imaging (Ultrasound) from Cedar Valley College. Sara has been in the veterinary field for over 25 years, including an internship at the Detroit Zoo and also in equine medicine. She has done cardiology relief work, dentistry relief work, and emergency medicine for over 18 years. Sara continues to pursue advanced imaging training, and also earned her CVPM certification. Sara is the owner of a Great Dane named “Scarlet” a Doberman named “Ruby”, and a Ragdoll cat named “Cooper.” Sara enjoys music, collegiate sports and spending time with friends.
